Well, I do a lot of programming, media work, and work on the computer. I tend to stray away from games though. When I install various form of Linux, I have to go find a suitable GTK theme matching my mood, install all the applications I use, remove unnecessary applications, configure different applications, and do other things to make my install comfortable to me.

Some have suggested Ubuntu Studio and I tried it. it was very unstable and broke easily, was bloated, had an ugly theme, and did not include my requisite programming utilities. So, for a while, I have been brainstorming what I would put in a Linux distro if I made one. So I decided to make one. Earlier it was named Klinux, then Kunax, then Kunix, the OpenPoke, then Trilu, then Katana, and now finally d5 Linux (inspired by blindnoob)

I am wondering what color pallet I should use. I prefer a professional-looking, soft, appealing skin with light blues and grayish-white. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would like to create a matching USplash, GDM, GTK, Metacity, Icon, Wallpaper, and Cursor theme (although I appreciate help and kind suggestions :) .

I would also remove certain applications (thunderbird, firefox, amarok/rhythmbox, etc.) and replace with gnome equivalents (evolution, epiphany, exaile, etc.) and install IceWM and/or Fluxbox. I will come with a preconfigured Compiz, XMMS (with ORMGAS streams ready), as well as small enhancements and tweaks. The programming stuff I would add would be either Geany or Anjuta, Scite, KDESVN, Subversion, Idle, SPE, Yakuake, as well as a few others. I aim to provide a seamless environment. Last but definitely not least, I would make sure it has all the media codecs and software up-to-date. If possible I would like to create a separate repository, and compile every package for the i686 hardware (although that is uneeded but could result in a speed boost). At the very least I would add a custom kernel for the i686 hardware with unnecessary features (like HAM Radio support) pruned and purged.

The blue I am thinking about is #008eff while the grayish-white is #80f8f1. Here are some blocks of color to show you what I mean.

Feed the mind with data long enough, it will develop to be like the image of it's source. So choose to be indoctrinated, or to map the road ahead, or just to be ignorant.
