I would like to point out that 3ds Max is probably a capable program too. Also, did you notice that the latest version of blender is HORRIBLE? It does not let you import wavefront files, 3ds max files, and a billion other model files types. Blender 2.45 does, however. Does anyone know why? This may be a problem just on this computer, but it is greatly limiting. Toodle Doo, Slurpee |

3DS Max (I have used it before many times) is "capable" but is neither gratis nor libre. The new Blender builds (I always build from SVN) are working fine for me. I just tested it. must be your computer. I suggest getting one of the stable/hot builds from Graphicall.Org if you'd like. I personally use the daily automated build as well as the Apricot build.

Next time, don't use words weird words that no one knows, like "gratis and libre". Oh, bye the way, this is what you said: People who use Blender hate 3ds max, and people who use 3ds max hate Blender. Oh, and I do not like 3ds max at all right now, as I am using it 2 hours a week about in a class. But all our opinions are biased, of course. |

tru dat. Dunno, 3ds Max is pretty powerful stuff, but we've been using blender forever, so it's grown on us, somewhat. Max is damn good at a lot of things, whereas Blender's still a quirky little program, slowly growing so it's impossible to tell which one is better right now. Blender has a game engine, so it's high on my list  |

Blender is growing extremely fast at an exponential rate. The latest 3ds Max, however, has no new features. Only know addons. 3ds Max is in need of a core recode. |

Blender is in the middle of a complete recode, and the latest blender 2.5 builds have been amazing. I can't wait. I feel like committing a patch or two myself. |
