Mech Head Model; I have attempted to model the mechs head

ATTENTION!!!

I have attempted to make a head. Techwizard has made the body, so I thought I would give this a shot at. Anyway, here is the .blend file. I will try to put up pictures of it in the next post.

First of all, Blender 2.46 is out and I am developing on that. There are 2.46 binary installers for Windoze.

As for the mech head, I really don't want to be mean, it does not really resemble a head. I would suggest box modeling with concept art.

Here is ahead I made for this a while a ago. It was a quick model meant to be UV mapped with a texture for in game. Download face.blend

Ok actually head sucks, I made it around when I first stared blender.

Here is a picture of what it would look like actually in the game. I doubt the face will actually be used, but I think we could actually use the outline around the face. It looks pretty cool.

Isn't the guy in a robot suit. He is a mech, right. He is not supposed to be exposed. A mech. Mechs have heads that look just like that.

Oh, and I just recently started blender so don't expect anything amazing from me. By the way, I had 2.46 for a week or so by now. I was wondering. Do you like my terrain. Anybody? Please respond. It has to be atleast somewhat decent. I mean, it IS my first terrain I every attempted to make. EVER. I used proportional falloff on random on a plain. Then I susurfed it. Then I did other things to it and wala!! Terrain. By the way I did not steal this from a tutorial.

BTW, try not too derail topics with questions abut other things (such as our terrain). I normally use different shades of black and white and have blender build the terrain.

Also, we are going to be modeling off concept art. See the associated thread.

Because this is a game, all models must be closed, single-mesh, and low poly. Characters can be up to 500 quads, mechas can be up to 450 quads, and buildings can be up to 50 quads.

Lastly, we have policy for images on bluedevs. Post a thumbnail of the image that is a link to a larger image. This speeds up page loading time and lets users pick which images they are interested in viewing in more detail.

By the way, I may have some sketches of some ideas to use for the mech suit. I just have to scan them. I encourage everyone to send in ideas for the game. Whoever has read this, draw an idea. It does not have to be the main character. It can be anything you think deserves to be in this game. A gas station for mechs, a machine that constructs mechs, or a giant helicopter. The job is yours. Anything is possible in the world of 3D.

I don't think meshes need to be closed anymore in the new version of Blender. Please forgive me if what I am saying is stupid, but I had to make the faces two-sided, and an open mesh works fine.
